Proverbs 31:10-13[ Hymn to a Good Wife ] A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds. Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it. Never spiteful, she treats him generously all her life long. She shops around for the best yarns and cottons, and enjoys knitting and sewing.
So yesterday we talked about it being time to tear, and today it's about mending or sewing. Think back to a favorite garment you had; maybe it was a coat, or a shirt, or pair of slacks....whatever it was remember how you felt when you notice it was ripped or torn? Remember how you prayed and hoped mom/grandma would be able to sew it back together or patch things up? My belated grandma was a jack of all trades....she was really (thinking about it now) was a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a maid ( a nicer way of terming a slave) and before leaving in the morning she would get up early to prepare my grandfather breakfast, she'd even sew or hem pants for anyone in the house, even put patches on things....but she even knitted all before 7 am. Sewing is more than about getting some yarn or string and weaving something together.....at it's core it's about repairing something that was ripped or torn apart.
This devotion is about more than fashion and design, but really it's about how do you fashion or design your day to give Glory to God. Do you spend your day knitting and sewing your faith into the fabric of every relationship & every divine appointment? Do you seek to sew love in your marriage so that it would stay intact? Do you look for opportunities to weave in the fruits of the spirit so that what you essentially leave your children, your husband, your co-workers, and your community with something that will point them back to the creator, GOD? It's not about whether you are great in home economics or not....but are you great in sewing together the things that matter most; relationships.
It's a time to sew......it's past time....we should sew as Christ sewed. Christ was skillful in weaving and sewing men and women's hearts to GOD through loving them. We should desire to do the same each day! LGLP
